Red Wheelbarrow Moments – Mushrooms, Feathers, Petals and Berries

The Red Wheelbarrow
so much depends
upon
a red wheel
barrow
glazed with rain
water
beside the white
chickens

It was a soft, pale grey, washed out  Autumn day today.

A day for mushrooms, feathers, petals and berries.
On days like this we walk between joy and melancholy.

Clusters of white mushrooms and sodden toadstools appear in the rain damp lawn.

The hedges around Kingston are studded happily with bright red berries.

There is a scatter of Camellia petals like pale pink confetti among dry brown leaves.

White feathers sit sadly on pavements and grass while the raucous clownish cry of cockatoos is painted like a snowy streak across the sky …
